Products that are saving my life
Friends! Hello! One of my favorite things in life is learning about people’s favorite products so today I’m sharing some of my favorites! I am on a journey to find cleaner options for hair and body care and I was fortunate to find some beautiful products that have worked really well, smell great, and look beautiful in my bathroom!
- Innersense Pure Harmony Hairbath & Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner – I like that the website clearly indicates which products would be best for my fine hair, plus they smell great, and last FOREVER. I found Innersense through @amymigddalia on Instagram. She has a huge list of healthy swaps and this brand was one of her top suggestions for shampoo and conditioner. They are committed to clean chemistry and formulate products without parabens, silicones, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or questionable ingredients.
- OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil & Salts of the Earth Body Scrub – These two products are SAVING my skin this winter. The day after Christmas I woke up with a rash and several really dry spots all over my arms. The weather had been so dry and cold and I had a feeling I was dealing with dry skin, so I immediately bought a humidifier to run while we sleep, and invested in this body oil and scrub. These two products are the best things I’ve ever bought for body care, and I’ve tried almost everything. I use the oil immediately after showering every day, and it truly does absorb quickly and keeps my skin so soft and really hydrated. I’m using the scrub once a week. I love the scent and it’s incredibly hydrating.
- Innersense I Create Volume – This comes in a 10-ounce bottle which is HUGE since you only need a pea-sized amount. This volumizing lotion truly gives my hair so much body and bounce and doesn’t leave any kind of weird film or stickiness to my hair.
- Supergoop Glowscreen – I use sunscreen on my face every single day, and I love this one! It’s got a subtle glow to it that is so pretty on my skin! I use this as the last step of my AM skincare routine, add some concealer, a little blush, mascara, and setting powder and I’m ready to go!
- Honeylove V-Neck Bra – All my bras bit the dust all at the same time so I was on a search for a comfortable everyday bra and this one is the best! It’s supportive, comfortable, and great under the sweatshirt that I wear every day of my life. HA!
- Aleavia Orchid Body Wash – Another Amy Migdalia recommendation for a cleaner swap. This body wash is great! It smells good, makes my skin clean, and is gentle enough to use on a newborn so it’s not creating any irritation.
Books I Read in January
Counterfeit by Kristen Chen ⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 1/2
Two women create a booming counterfeit designer handbag empire and hijinks ensue. This one was a delight to read!
The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love this series by Louise Penny that encompasses 17 books now! The Cruelest Month is book 3 in the series that I consider a “cozy mystery.” Someone has died in the idyllic town of Three Pines, and an investigation, good food, and a secondary plot are included. This series makes me want to drink more tea and eat more things with jam on it.
The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth ⭐️⭐️
This book wasn’t what I expected. It begins with a shocking murder at a wedding, and switches back and forth between the past and present. It just made me sad.
Survive the Night by Riley Sager ⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 1/2
I discovered Riley Sager last year and he’s been my go-to author for thrillers since. This one was not my favorite of his, but it was still a decent read with a twist I didn’t see coming. I prefer a fast plot and this one builds SO SLOWLY. I think that’s why it wasn’t my favorite. Charlie needs a ride home after her roommate is tragically murdered by a serial killer in the 90s. Josh, who she believes is a student at her college, offers to give her a ride. During the hours long drive, she starts to believe Josh is the serial killer who killed her roommate, and she has to quickly figure out how she’ll survive the drive. If you want a thriller I highly recommend Riley Sager’s book The Last Time I Lied. It is a TRIP
A History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a random read for me and I’m so glad I picked it up. Travis Wren is hired by Maggie St. James’ parents to find her after she went missing 5 years ago and ends up also going missing while searching for her. Years later, Theo, a member of a cult called Pastoral finds Travis’s truck and so many things come to light. The story is GRIPPING and I read this one in a weekend. Highly recommend!
Gentle & Lowly by Dane Ortlund ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A book that has changed my outlook on Jesus and his love for me. Please read this.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one was also a surprise to me. I loved this one. Here’s the Goodreads summary below “Sussex, England. A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. Although the house he lived in is long gone, he is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock, and her mother and grandmother. He hasn’t thought of Lettie in decades, and yet as he sits by the pond (a pond that she’d claimed was an ocean) behind the ramshackle old farmhouse, the unremembered past comes flooding back. And it is a past too strange, too frightening, too dangerous to have happened to anyone, let alone a small boy.”
