2022 was the year that I realized how much I LOVE documenting receptions!

At the start of the reception, I normally hand off the coordination and timing over to your wedding planner or DJ and just document the events as they happen!

I do have three tips for getting the most out of your reception coverage:

  1. Guest Consideration – If you have a lot of elderly guests or guests who won’t be staying long at your reception, make sure to schedule your cake-cutting and first dance relatively early in the night so they can be a part of those events. Grandmas love seeing those sweet traditions!
  2. Keep Things Moving – Chat with your planner and/or DJ about how you can plan your reception timing so your guests will be engaged all night!
  3. Make It Your Own – Don’t feel tied to traditions that don’t feel like you as a couple, and add in events that DO feel like you!
  4. Coverage Time – I recommend planning your timeline so that you can have one hour of open dancing. The guests who are dancing during the first hour will still be dancing at hour three, so planning for an hour of coverage really is enough to capture the joy of your reception!

Enjoy some of my favorite moments at receptions last year!
