Hey, soon to be Mrs! I see you with that new sparkly diamond, but I bet you didn’t realize how many decisions would stand between you and I do!
I understand how overwhelming the wedding planning process can be and I’ve built my business around eliminating wedding-related decision fatigue. You won't find an overwhelming amount of options here because you shouldn’t have to choose what should between the necessities of wedding photography coverage!
I’m Meredith and I am so glad you’re here. I’m a pro at keeping a wedding day on track, getting the groom and groomsmen to not totally hate pictures, and dad jokes….always with the dad jokes!
Holden Beach, NC is my happy place. We've been going since I was just a few months old, and it's where Kyle and I got engaged!
I think life should be celebrated so I love making a big deal out of every milestone, birthday, and random holiday.
Fresh flowers make my heart happy at weddings and in real life. My favorite happens to be tulips!
One of my favorite parts of the week is sitting down to plan everything out. All. my tasks, meal plan, workouts..EVERYTHING!
I started taking pictures of the treats I was baking in the evenings after I got off work right after I graduated college with my undergraduate degree. The job wasn't creatively stimulating or all that challenging and I needed a creative outlet.
A few months later, a friend decided to start her photography business and I second shot for her a handful of times. I loved the creative freedom and the atmosphere of those smaller weddings but it didn't cross my mind until years later to try to build a business for myself.
In 2016 I was sitting in a hotel room in Tappahannock, VA when I decided to take the leap and I offered Christmas Card sessions for the first time. I had three families sign up, and I was hooked. I invested in lots of photography education from Katelyn James and said yes to every opportunity that came my way.
I filed my paperwork to become a licensed business in West Virginia on October 1, 2018.
In late 2019 I began to feel like taking Meredith Brooke Photography full-time could be the next right thing for me professionally.
I was in my last semester before graduating with my Master's in Theology and the situation with my full-time job was deteriorating. I was ready for a creative challenge, but I also needed to get out of the bad work environment I was in and Meredith Brooke Photography was growing.
After much prayer and late-nights of talking with my husband about whether it was a wise decision for me to leave my state job, I walked into my boss's office and let him know I would be leaving in a few short months.
My last day at that job was February 28, 2020, just three short weeks before the pandemic hit the US and everything, including weddings, were shut down.
In the last two years through Christ alone and with the encouragement and support of some of the best photographer friends, my family, my husband Kyle, and hard work I've built a sustainable business that I am incredibly proud of.
I shot 2 weddings in 2019, and now I average around 18 per year...all because I said yes to the adventure God had written for me.
It's been a challenging adventure of faith, but it's also made me very passionate about encouraging other people to say yes to the adventures God may be welcoming them into as well!
