Wedding photographer, Starbucks enthusiast, and lover of all things romance and weddings.

July was a slow shooting month, but a busy catch-up on editing and all the back-end things that one has to do as a business owner. I am slowly learning what rhythms are important for me, and having July as a slow month after the busy spring wedding season was so good for me!

That break happened by accident so I wasn’t as prepared for a break as I would’ve liked, and now I’m looking at a stretch of weddings until October 10th when I get to head to the beach for a vacation with my family!

Please enjoy this recap of July! I have a very full August and I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of busy season.

  • I guess the most important development in our lives this month is…WE’RE MOVING! We’ll still be in Bridgeport, but our new space was a totally unexpected and happy development. I am excited to create a dedicated work space and make things cozy!

  • We didn’t get to go to Virginia for our usual Fourth of July celebration so we ended up celebrating together with our family in mid-July instead. That trip was also to take senior pictures of two of the best, but it was wonderful to include family time in there as well!

    • My brother-in-law brought Peach Truck Peaches which I promptly turned into peach fluff for my dad, a refined-sugar-free crisp for Kyle and I, and then froze the rest so we can enjoy some amazing peaches sometime this winter!

    • It was everything I needed to sit outside on the porch with family and eat good food and just be together.

  • We were able to go to Canaan for a weekend to celebrate my dad’s birthday earlier this month too! Canaan does live music outside on Friday evenings, and it was so nice! The weather as perfect, the music was great, and I just always enjoy being together with our family so much!

  • This coming Saturday I will be 65 classes into my goal of 100 classes at my gym this year. My goal was to create consistency, and I’m proud of myself! I even rewarded myself after my 60th class with a new workout piece from Lululemon. HA! My first ever piece from there!

  • This month was slow with new sessions and weddings, but I was able to deliver two weddings and a family session! I’m basically caught up, with the exception of two senior sessions…and then the engagement session I have tonight and the wedding we go to on Saturday! HA!

  • I’m excited to share Olivia and Ian’s engagement session with you guys! I get to meet them tonight at Stonehouse Lavender and I’m really looking forward to it!

  • We also travel south this weekend for Madison & Jeremiah’s wedding! I’ll link their blogpost when it’s completed!

  • Hail Mary by Andy Weir – this book is Science FIction (which I normally don’t ever read) but I loved every second of this book! I loved how it ended, and it didn’t get so weird that I felt disconnected from the story. I highly recommend this one!

  • Embodied by Preston Sprinkle – the tagline of this book is “Transgender Identities, the Church, and What the Bible Has to Say” and I found it logical, compassionate, thorough, and clear. I actually consumed this as an audiobook which I do not recommend. The author includes lots of medical and biological terms that I wasn’t familiar with and that made it hard for me to follow along. The main idea that came from this book was that the transgender conversation isn’t as straightforward as one would think. I recommend reading a physical copy of this!

  • Cultish by Amanda Montell – this book talks about how language can create cultish communities. I read it thinking it may help with some marketing strategy, but the book and the research is fascinating!

  • Breaking Free From Body Shame by Jess Connolly – I’ll finish this up within the next couple of days and I plan on doing an entire book review on it somewhere. It is a gift of a book for anyone who’s ever experienced shame in/about their bodies! HIGHLY recommend!

Thanks for reading!

Products – I’m adding a new category in! Some products I’ve been loving this month!

  • Tan-luxe sunless tanning products. For the last two summers it’s been my goal to have a nice summer tan, and for the last two summers I have failed. HA! I usually get a spray tan before any vacations, but I’ve been using the two products below 2-3 times per week and REALLY love them! I mix and apply to my body/face and then use a mit to make sure everything is blended.

    • The Butter I use this on my body only and mix it with the Face drops

    • The Face Drops I mix these into my moisturizer to apply on my face almost every night, and then mix them into the body butter for my body 2-3 times per week! I have the world’s most sensitive skin and these don’t bother me!

  • Nivea Nourishing In-Shower Body Lotion – I really hate the feeling of lotion on my skin, but this product that you use in the shower and then rinse off is amazing! It leaves my skin so soft, smooth and moisturized. Plus, it’s a great product to use before I do self-tanning

  • A&F Double-Layered Seamless V-Neck Bodysuit – do not sleep on these (unless they aren’t on sale, and then hold off until they’re on sale)! These bodysuits are SO GOOD. I purchased the white, black, and light blue and wear them almost every day of my life with shorts. These bodysuits are thick and seamless so they go under everything. I’ve been loving them with highwaisted jeans and a cute cardigan!
