I am in full swing busy season over here, and I’m loving (mostly) every minute of it. So much wedding cake, hanging out with the sweetest people every weekend, and trying to keep my head above water with editing has marked this month for me!
Even though 2020 was my first full-time wedding season, it was MUCH different than this year. I’m learning so much about myself and my business!
Enjoy my recap of June!
Personal
-
This month has been very uneventful personally as I’ve adjusted to spending most of my days in front of a computer editing, and when I’m not editing I’m shooting a session or a wedding. Full disclosure, that’s been a really hard adjustment and I’m working through how to keep myself sane while staying on top of editing. I’d heard photographers talk about it, but until you live it you just can’t quite understand. I’ll be budgeting to allow myself to outsource editing next wedding season to give myself more margin!

I was able to spend some time with my sister and my niece Berkeley, and that’s always a highlight of my month!
-
We celebrated my dad for Father’s Day while Chelsey and Berkeley were in. I made cake and enjoyed my family, two of my most favorite things!
-
We celebrated my mom’s birthday at Ruby Tuesday’s this month. It was nice to sit at a restaurant together for a while.

I met Ashley & Josh at Valley Falls for their engagement session at Valley Falls! I get to join them for their wedding in September and I’m very much looking forward to it! You can view their blog post here!
-
I don’t take on a ton of family sessions, but I’ll normally say yes to my former MBP couples! I was able to meet Chelsea and Alex at WVU for a mini session with their sweet daughter Addy. They are a dream!
-
I celebrated with Louise & Mike at Canaan Valley! They are rock climbers and have created a pretty large rock climbing community, so their day had some pretty amazing details to celebrate that being such a big part of their lives! Their wedding blog post is coming soon!
-
We celebrated the with Emily & Derrick on Emily’s family farm and it was a photographers dream day! Everything was perfect! Their wedding blog post is coming soon!

I’m photographing an adoption and am beside myself with excitement! I’ll share if/when I can!
Reading
-
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord – this one was an audiobook. It’s an adorable story! 10/10!
-
The Making of Biblical Womanhood: How the Subjugation of Women Became Gospel Truth by Beth Allison Barr – this one was also an audiobook that I’ve since purchased. The author is a medieval historian who researched the role of women in the church through time. It’s a fascinating read that will give you A LOT to think about. Here’s a quote that sums up the framework of the book, “Women have always been wives and mothers, but it wasn’t until the Protestant Reformation that being a wife and a mother became the ‘ideological touchstone of holiness’ for women.” It’s a great read!
-
Woven by Angie Smith – this is the book I read during my morning routine. It’s not what I thought it would be, and I was really bummed about that, but I don’t think I was her intended audience.

Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris – I always want to read fiction in the summer, and this thriller had me hooked! It’s got a twist I did NOT see coming so you know I definitely enjoyed it! 10/10 for this one too!
June was great and I’m excited to slow down just a little in July so I can get caught up. I’m planning on taking Fridays off this month (and many next) to enjoy some summertime fun! We get to shoot two weddings and two senior sessions in July, and I’m meeting with a new food photography client as well!
