MEET BROOKLYN

April was gloriously slow. I am incredibly thankful for the rest before things get crazy for the next 6 months. Every weekend in May is booked with sessions or weddings (and an anniversary trip to the beach too) and I am so excited to get back into the swing of things!

Personal

  • As of writing this, I’m 41 classes into my goal of 100 workout classes this year! My goal was to get consistent in the gym, and I’m finally in a good groove (just in time for wedding season to hit. HA!)

  • Kyle had his annual fishing trip which meant I spent a week solo. I have absolutely no idea how I spent so many years living alone. He left on a Sunday, and by the end of that day I was already over it. I’m thankful to have had dinner with girlfriends, my gym friends, and work to do this year! While I was sad he wasn’t home, I was really happy to see just how full life has been!

  • I made oatmeal cream pies for his trip, and I only approve these once a year because they are a calorie BOMB….but goodness are they delicious, and I don’t really like the store version!

Meredith Brooke Photography

  • I shot a senior session at Stonewall. Love that venue for all kinds of sessions!

Reading

  • The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman – this is the perfect beach/vacation book!

  • Growing Boldly by Emily Ley – I’ll finish this up tomorrow. The book is about building a life you love and doing it your own way. I loved it for that! It’s an easy, introspective read that I incorporated into my morning devotional time. I usually like something a bit more theologically heavy, but this was just nice and encouraging!

  • Lost Women of the Bible by Carolyn Custis James – I loved this book! My favorite quote sums up why I love it, “A woman’s mission centered on home and family — vital spheres of ministry to be sure, but only a slice of the vast mission God originally cast by calling women to rule and subdue the earth.”

  • Profit First – this book has transformed the way I run my finances in my business! Highly recommended if you’re a business owner!
