One year ago I left a full-time job to pursue entrepreneurship and haven’t looked back!
I don’t think I’ve actually come to grips with the fact that it’s been an entire year since I started this journey! It may be due in part to the fact that we have all just lived through one of the craziest years we will (HOPEFULLY) ever know in our lifetime and I just so happened to make a huge decision in the midst of it all. All I know is that I am beyond grateful for the opportunity, for the friends I’ve made, the rest I’ve experienced, and the personal growth I’ve seen.
This time last year I was terrified, and I honestly thought God would open the door for me to enter the traditional workforce after several months of a break. I’m just now settling into the fact that this business is growing and I am actually living my life as a small business owner! IT’S HAPPENING!
Advice for the new entrepreneur
If you’ve just left a job to work for yourself full-time, or you’re contemplating it the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to get yourself into community. Find people who are also doing what you’re doing and build relationships with them. If it weren’t for my support system and the opportunities I’ve been given because of my friends in the industry I’m not sure I would be writing this post.
We need each other, and as someone who is fiercely independent that was really hard for me to admit. Learning that lesson and reaching out to others was a major factor in my ability to keep going.
Some encouragement
I’m excited to see where this business goes in 2021, but I am so thankful for the progress I’ve made over the last year. All of this progress is because of Jesus. All of it. I am living proof that when God asks you to exercise your faith He will show up. He will be faithful. He will meet every need, sometimes creatively and sometimes miraculously. It’s been a humbling experience for this girl whose life motto has been, “I will do it myself.”
Any success I’ve had with this, and any success I continue to have is because of Jesus.
I just want to encourage you: If you’re reading this and God has asked you to take a step out in faith, to trust Him with any part of your life…He will take care of you!
What’s Coming Next
I’m excited to share some of what I’ve learned over the last year this month! From education to what it’s like working with me, I’ll be sharing some fun things every Tuesday!
