My birthday: I celebrated my birthday on February 14th, and while two rounds of birthday plans were rearranged and/or canceled, I had the best low-key day with the best pizza I’ve ever had, a moscow mule, and a nap! Ha!
Time with family: my family finally got to be together to celebrate Christmas! I spent the best few days at my parent’s house with everyone and it was exactly what I needed. We actually ended up getting snowed in, and my brother-in-law Chris joked that it was the most snow he’s ever had on Christmas!
The well-watered women James devo: if you’re new around here, I have a Master’s degree in Theology that I completed in August 2020. It’s been fun to study the Bible on my own instead of academically, but I’ve struggled to find resources that help me actually study! I’ve used the She Reads Truth studies for years, but I found myself wanting a different resource! I found the Well-Watered Women journal and ended up ordering the journal that specifically walks through the Book of James, and it helps me actually STUDY the word. The journal focuses on just a few verses a day instead of large chunks of Scripture so it’s easier for me to meditate on all day long! If you’ve been wanting a more in-depth study resource, check out Well-Watered Women!

Berkeley’s 2nd Birthday – my niece turns two on the 24th and we did her two year session while we were all together at my parent’s for Christmas. Aunt MeMe’s trick for getting a sweet smile out of Berkeley is to have her say, “FETA CHEESE.” She is a girl after her auntie’s cheese-loving heart!
Date Night Sessions – I hosted a second round of my date night sessions at Canaan Valley Resort. We were hoping for snow, but the original date ended up including negative 15 wind chills so we moved and ended up with the BEST weather! It was sunny and snowy and perfect! I can’t wait to share images from the day!
Anna’s 16th Birthday Session – I’m traveling to Virginia today to shoot my cousin Anna’s 16th birthday session. I haven’t seen them in months and I could not be more excited!
I was VERRRRYYYYYY slow with reading this month. I’m not quite sure why, but I couldn’t get into it.
Creative Ministry by Henri Nouwen – this book is only around 100 pages, but I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. It’s old, boring, and not at all what I was expecting. While I normally don’t mind if a book surprises me, this was just so DRY.
Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell – I listed to this as an audiobook and couldn’t stop. IT IS FASCINATING. Gladwell always includes massive amounts of research into his writing, and the data in this was shocking. I highly recommend this book, but you also need to know (especially in the audiobook version) that there are graphic court audio files and personal testimonies of people who have experienced sexual assault.
Ready While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope by Esau McCaulley – I hope to finish this on my trip to and from Virginia this week. It’s given me A LOT to think about as far as biblical interpretation and church history is concerned.
